Women’s Alcohol and Drug Detoxification

Research indicates that more than 4 million women in this country alone need treatment for substance abuse. Research also indicates that women sometimes become addicted more quickly to certain drugs such as crack cocaine or prescription painkillers even after just casual or experimental use. Therefore, by the time a woman enters treatment, she may be severely addicted, making treatment more difficult. Research also indicates that for women in particular, treatment is more successful when they stay in regular contact with their treatment provider. After completing a drug treatment program, women also need services to assist them in sustaining their recovery and in rejoining the community.

At the Pat Moore Foundation’s alcohol treatment centers for women in Orange County we tailor our women’s programs to meet the often unique needs of women in rehab. We have designed a completely separate, gender specific, intensive drug and alcohol treatment program for women that addresses known issues through one-on-one counseling, process groups, women’s peer groups, relapse prevention, women’s lectures, in-house women’s 12-step meetings, outside women’s 12-step meetings, discharge and aftercare planning. The housing is on a unique co-ed campus where women live in cottages separate from men and participate in gender specific groups within the reassuring environment of our clean and sober community.

Each member of our staff understands the woman’s recovery process from a unique perspective. Our caring and highly skilled staff provides each addicted woman with the necessary tools that are required to re-enter the mainstream of life a sober, happy and productive individual.
