Counseling and Suboxone Team Up at PMF to Deliver Outstanding Detox Services

With the drug addiction rate continuing to remain steady, substance abuse professionals are always trying to better their drug addiction treatment for addicts who want to get clean. Here at Pat Moore Foundation, we continually strive to provide the best substance abuse services for those struggling with addiction. With many years’ experience and a high success rate, we are honored to be of such assistance to those who need help.

Suboxone for opiate addiction

Suboxone is a drug comprised of buprenorphine and naloxone and it is prescribed to those addicts who are clearly addicted to heroin and other opiates. What the drug does is relieve some of the daunting withdrawal symptoms that can come as a result of getting off of opiates. Suboxone acts upon certain receptors in the brain, which in turn inhibit the cravings for opiates.

Some may feel that substituting one drug for another drug is defeating the purpose of living clean and free, but the reality is that suboxone is much less harmful than opiates and it is a good stepping stool to getting off of the drugs entirely. The general plan is to wean recovering addicts off of suboxone over time.

Here at PMF, we not only utilize suboxone for detox services, but also a good amount of counseling, as the detox process involves both getting free from harmful substances, as well as negative and toxic emotions. Using suboxone without an emphasis on counseling is not the most effective way in helping recovering addicts get free physically, mentally, and emotionally.

The Importance of Counseling

Addicts tend to live in bondage to substances and negative emotions and behaviors. Due to this, it is vital that detox involve both physical and mental methods to become free. For example, if you become addicted to pain pills, you’re most likely addicted both physically and psychologically. The body is addicted to the pills and needs more and more to feel the same effect. Additionally, psychological addiction can occur as the addict may be using pain pills to try to deaden inner pain.

A recovering addict who participates in counseling can finally get to the root of the issues that may have been plaguing him for years and years. Many addicts use drugs because of the immense psychological pain that they feel, which is why counseling is so important to uncover and work through each layer of pain.

Addiction can be a rough road, but when you couple professional counseling with the detox process, the road to recovery and an abundant life becomes quite possible. If you’re struggling with addiction, it’s time to take that first step toward freedom. Reach out for help and embark on a journey to live life clean, free, happy, and peaceful.
