Suboxone | Old Friends
Last weekend I attended the All California Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (ACYPAA) conference in San Diego. I ran into some people I hadn't seen in a number of years. The conference was great and it gave me ample opportunity to find out more information on Suboxone treatment. Suboxone is used in the treatment of opiate addiction.
The conference meets once a year, and I believe next year it is in San Francisco...another city I know and love. I know that Suboxone is not used in alcohol treatment so I didn't attend a seminar on its benefits, but I had a dear friend talk to me about his experience with this medication.
To be honest, I thought he might have a problem with addiction, but he was not within my circle so I didn't encounter him that much when I lived in San Francisco. I sort of hung with the 'non-party' crowd. Not the 'sober-crowd' exclusively. 'Normies' have plenty to offer! Anyway, I couldn't place him at first and as soon as he said his name it came right back.
He was happy to see me because I had set him on the path to recovery many years ago. Apparently, to him, I was an example of a person who could be sober and still have fun. It had taken him years of relapsing but he was pulling together a year this past weekend. I was thrilled for him.
