Finding Relief | Step Three - Part 2

I think sometimes I might make it seem that accepting the steps and working through them is an easy thing to do. Believe me when I say they are hard work, and they continue to be. Yes, I said continue to be. I need to work them all the time -- at least in one way shape or form. You don't only work the Twelve-Steps after you complete your stay in an alcohol and drug addiction treatment facility. You must try your best to apply them to every aspect of your life.

It might be helpful to take the steps also as milestones. For example, the first three steps are your building blocks to maintaining a happier life. It is these three steps that allow you an ability to open up, to let go, and realize that you don't have to hold onto everything. You can trust in something, or someone greater than yourself. Stop fighting and find relief through this process.

For me, and I really only ever speak for myself when it comes to my understanding, Step Three is about letting go of all the old ideas of how life has been taught, or not taught, to me. I've opened myself up to allowing a higher power into my life. When I can't figure something out, or I am struggling with something important, I do turn this over. I have to stop dwelling on it. The answers come to me. They really do. Of course they don't always come to me when and how I want, but I sit back, make sure my own business is in order and wait for the answers to materialize.
