Drug Treatment | The Death of Corey Haim

For some of us this news hits home because we've possibly gone through drug treatment, relapsed, and continued to struggle with drug addiction. Drug treatment works for those who want to work hard at it. Unfortunately for some of us though, addiction and addictive behavior is harder to break. I know from public accounts and interviews, Haim struggled with relapsed most of his life.

I sit here this morning, after booting up the laptop, sipping on my coffee and then glancing to my Yahoo Home page. The news of 38 year old Corey Haim died Wednesday morning at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA. Sad. It is unclear if drugs played a factor, although Haim had sought drug treatment in the past.

I'm of a generation that remembers him as an up and coming actor in movies like "Lucas" and "The Lost Boys." He had a charismatic charm on the screen that catapulted him to a 1980's 'heartthrob' status, but began using drugs on the set of "The Lost Boys." How apropos is that.
