Get Addiction Help (888) 804-0917

I haven’t written about this in a couple of weeks because I wanted to see how it would play out with my friend. He has refused to go to drug detox. I can say that as his friend I am sad he has not decided to go to a drug detox. He could use the help.

This is the struggle a lot of us go through — on both sides of the issue. I know when I was using no one could make me stop using. Anyone who did was seen as the enemy, but only if they were forceful. I needed to come to terms with what was going on with me. I needed to figure out what I was willing to lose, what I was willing to sacrifice for alcohol and other drugs. My proverbial ‘bottom’ wasn’t as low as others I’ve seen, but it doesn’t make me less of an addict.

As for my friend, well, I don’t want to be the forceful one. I don’t want to be seen as the enemy. And, I don’t want to be the one he pushes away. So, it comes down to deciding what is best for me. I think I just need to stay out of it. Be there if he ask for help. Make suggestions only when he asks for them. And finally, just be a great example of what sobriety truly is.

If it is meant to be he will find his way.
